Materials

Paper - All Sea Pen cotton pulp, paper made here. Sea Pen was chosen to be one of the five American hand papermakers to make endsheet stock for the Library of Congress in the early 90’s.

Sewing - Pack sewn on double cords

Boards - Quarter split, air dried Live Oak salvaged from the firewood pile at Paper & Book Intensive (PBI) in 1998, near Santa Barbara, CA. Worked by hand.

Endbands - homespun flax by Melody

Covering - Hmong Hemp - thousands of years of unbroken hemp tradition

Sewn through the boards as in the older tradition of mechanical attachment with sewing, not only adhesives.

Adhesives - Always homemade wheat starch paste

Clasps - 18 gauge brass, straps are University of Iowa paper case core and airplane linen covering core.
